What we collect, and why

The short version: very little, for obvious reasons, and never sold. The long version is below.

01

What this policy covers

Rocky Mountain Angling Club, Inc. (“RMAC,” “the Club,” “we,” “us”) operates this website. This policy explains what personal information we collect here, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it.

It covers this website only. Two things you can reach from here are run by other companies, under their own policies:

  • AnglerPass. Club membership runs on AnglerPass — applications, dues, reservations, and the Streamside member community. Once you follow a link from this site to anglerpass.com, you are on their platform, and what you give them is governed by their privacy policy and terms — not this one.
  • Independent businesses. The fly shops, guides, outfitters, and lodging listed on our Resources page are not affiliated with the Club. Their sites are their own.
02

Information you give us

When you get in touch. This site has no contact form — you reach us by phone, email, or post. If you write or call, we receive your name, your contact details, and whatever you choose to tell us. We keep that correspondence so we can answer you and follow up.

When you order from the shop. Checkout is hosted by Stripe, our payment processor. You enter your name, email address, shipping address, phone number, and card details on Stripe’s page. We never receive or store your full card number, and we could not retrieve it if we tried. What Stripe passes back to us is what we need to fulfil the order: what you bought, what you paid, your name, email address, phone number, shipping address, and confirmation that the payment went through.

03

Information collected automatically

Server logs. This site is hosted by Vercel, which records ordinary request data: IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser’s user agent string. We use it to keep the site up, diagnose faults, and shut down abuse. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

Analytics. We do not currently run any third-party analytics on this site — no Google Analytics, no product analytics, no session recording or heatmaps. What we know about traffic comes from the server logs described above. If that ever changes, we will update this policy to say what we have turned on before we turn it on.

04

Cookies

This site sets one cookie, and only if you use the shop.

  • Your shopping cart. Adding gear to your cart sets one cookie on your device. It holds only the item and size you picked and how many you wanted, and it expires after fourteen days. It carries no name, no contact details, and no payment information, and it cannot be used to follow you to another website. The shop cannot work without it.

There are no analytics cookies, no advertising or retargeting cookies, no social media pixels, and no cross-site tracking. Your browser can block or delete cookies; if you block the cart cookie, everything on the site works except the shop.

05

How we use your information

We use what we collect to:

  • answer your questions and respond to what you send us;
  • take, make, ship, and support orders from the shop, including handling a replacement or a refund;
  • keep the site secure and available, and investigate fraud, abuse, or technical faults;
  • understand in aggregate how the site is used, so we can improve it; and
  • meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations, and establish or defend legal claims.

We do not use your information for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not profile you for targeted advertising.

06

When we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted or cross-context behavioural advertising. We disclose it only in these situations:

  • Service providers who help us run the site and the shop. Stripe processes payments. Printful prints and ships Club gear, and to do that receives your name, shipping address, phone number, and what you ordered. Vercel hosts the site. Each is bound to use what it receives only to provide its service to us.
  • When the law requires it. In response to a valid subpoena, court order, or other lawful demand, or where disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Club, our members, or the public.
  • In a business transfer. If the Club is ever sold, merged, or reorganised, member and customer information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
07

Your privacy rights

Colorado law gives Colorado residents specific rights over their personal data, and several other states give their residents comparable rights. Wherever you live, we will honour the following requests:

  • Know and access. Ask whether we hold personal data about you, and get a copy of it in a portable format.
  • Correct. Ask us to fix data about you that is wrong.
  • Delete. Ask us to delete data about you.
  • Opt out. Opt out of the sale of personal data, of targeted advertising, and of profiling with significant effects. We do none of these, so there is nothing to opt out of — but the right stands.

To make a request, email hello@rmangling.com or call (303) 421-6239. We will ask for enough information to be confident you are who you say you are — we will not hand your data to someone else — and we will respond within forty-five days, or tell you why we need longer. An authorised agent may act for you if you give them written permission. Exercising these rights costs nothing and will never change how we treat you.

If we say no. You may appeal, free of charge, by replying to our decision or writing to us at the address below. We will respond in writing with our reasons. If we deny the appeal, Colorado residents may contact the Colorado Attorney General; other residents may contact their own state’s attorney general.

Browser opt-out signals. Where your browser sends a recognised universal opt-out signal, such as Global Privacy Control, we treat it as a valid opt-out request for that browser.

08

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as it is doing a job. Order records are kept as long as needed to support the order and then for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Correspondence is kept while it is useful for answering you and understanding the history of your dealings with the Club. Server logs are kept for a short operational window. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or strip it of anything identifying.

09

How we protect it

The site is served entirely over HTTPS. Payment details go directly to Stripe, a PCI-certified processor, and never touch our systems. Access to order information is limited to the people who need it to run the shop. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — but if a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.

10

Children

This website is meant for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under thirteen. Young anglers are welcome on Club water, but their reservations and payments are made by an adult member. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.

11

Links to other sites

This site links out to AnglerPass, to independent guides, outfitters, and lodging, and to our payment processor. Following one of those links takes you somewhere we do not control. We are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information — read their policies before you give them anything.

12

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will post the revised version here and update the date at the top. Where a change materially affects how we handle information we already hold, we will take reasonable steps to tell you directly. The date at the top always tells you which version you are reading.
